How to Dress at the Office during the Summer

With the rising temperatures and the chilly air conditioners in the office, you may find it difficult to getting dressed every morning. I have listed some go-to outfits for the summer! 1. Blouse & Skirt - Depending on your personal style, you could go as classic or as eclectic as you want. Keeping it more clean-cut and polished would be classic white blouse (maybe adding a puffier sleeve) and a printed pencil skirt. If you are looking to switch it up a bit, try a printed blouse with a striped pencil skirt. Now if fuller skirts suit your body type then switch the pencil skirt and still wear it as I have mentioned previously. Often in the summer a blazer tends to be set aside, but I would suggest looking for linen, polished cotton, or even silk. Don't be afraid to wear silk in the summer.
2. Dress - Honestly when all else fails, go into your closet and grab that dress! It will never fail you, and will work no matter the situation. For a more conservative look, try heather grey, navy, khaki, and/or black. All 4 of these colours are seen as your LBD (little black dress). Try adding some colour with your accessories, for example turquoise pumps and heather grey look great together. If your dress is sleeveless then you want to make sure for the office you have a cardigan or blazer to give you the complete look.
3. Pretty Pastels - A new palette for suiting can be seen in softer shades such a nude, blush, cream, mint, and peach.

Vacation Essentials

Where are you off to this summer?
A simple dress, whether short or long is always a must for summer. It's easy to wear and versatile. Black is key, but a bold colour is always fun and that is what summer is all about!
Flat leather sandals work no matter your destination. They are easy to wear, and look good with almost everything.
Hats have really made a comeback. Whether I'm on the beach, travelling, or beating the heat in the city - I always depend on my straw hat. Plus they just add an instant cool to your outfit.
Just because it's day doesn't mean you can't add a little bling to your outfit. You don't need to add much...I think a gold cuff can compliment any outfit.
You already know my thoughts on a straw bag for summer - a must!
A fabulous pair of sunglasses will top off any look. Find the style that works best for you, right now I can't get enough of the cat-eye!

How to Wear: Colour Denim

Add a little sophistication to your colour denim.

The Power of the Blazer

A great blazer can take you from the office to the resturant, and pretty much anywhere you go. Wondering how that is possible? Take a suit jacket, take it away from the matching trouser pant and your possibilities are truly endless. Try wearing it with a great fitting pair of jeans, a printed pencil skirt, or a shift dress. Instead of wearing your cotton white blouse under the blazer, try a sheer blouse, a colour silk blouse, or a loose fitting tee. I love how Gwyneth pretty much always completes her outfit with a blazer...

Black Bag for the Summer

I love a bag that has versatility but that doesn't mean it has to lack in style. My go-to bag for the summer is a straw bag I picked up in Capri a few years ago. Whether I am out and about running errands, or going for dinner, I use my straw bag for everything...I even use it as a diaper bag! A straw bag is ideal for your travels and of course perfect for the beach. You don't need many bags, but you need bags that are functional but still stylish. Now you may not think a straw bag is versatile, but it's worth giving it a try. Think of it as a blaack bag but for the summer!

How to Dress Up: Denim Jacket

Jenna Lyons of J. Crew wore a denim jacket with her silk shantung hot pink skirt. What an interesting and still stylish way to wear the classic denim jacket.

Major Trend: Lace

This years Met Gala a major trend we saw on the red carpet was lace:

Diva-licious

Oh my goodness!!! We love that Beyonce wore a Givenchy lacy black gown with a purple and black feathered train to the Met Gala. Her personal style keeps getting better!
